December Already?

So, all of November slipped by without a single blog update from me. Well, other than my Goodreads reviews. There hasn’t been much news on the writing front, so I just didn’t bother to post. There still isn’t much, but I felt like it was time for an update.

After Obsession has been out for close to three months now. Because I am the obsessive person I am, I’ve kept track of Amazon sales, and still have my Google search active, but I’ve gotten to where I shrug off the negative reviews. I wish they could all be positive, like this one, or this one, but hey, if everyone had the same opinion we wouldn’t need both Coke and Pepsi, right? Anyway, our agent says it’s doing well as far as sales go.

I watched my other books with a lot of interest, wondering if sales would go up following the release of After Obsession. So far, that hasn’t happened. I have mixed feelings about that. Of course, I’d like to see them really take off, but still have some doubts the younger part of the YA audience is ready for them.

Lots of readers have speculated about a sequel to After Obsession. There’s nothing planned at the moment. I can say I’d love to revisit it, and I have some ideas about what Alan would be doing next. We’ll see how it goes.

My writing has been kind of at a standstill of late. Part of it is burnout at work, I know. I’d planned to spend four of the five days of Thanksgiving break finishing edits on a solo YA novel. I had everything set, with no papers to grade, but my computer pick up a nasty virus the week before the break and my machine was with Geek Squad for eight days. Now I’m back to having stacks of essays to read. I’m hoping to work in at least a little time for editing this weekend. I definitely want this book revised and out of the way before Christmas break.

Christmas break is for Nadia’s Children. I’ve put it off long enough. There are still some publisher issues I’m not thrilled about, and it’s a difficult installment of The Werewolf Saga, but it needs to be done.

Finally, there are a couple of things in the contract stages. One is a foreign sale of After Obsession to the country I’m most interested in cracking. The other will have me editing a werewolf anthology for an old friend who has her own publishing company now. More on both when the contracts are signed.

One response to “December Already?”

  1. Nice to finally see something here. And, yeah, November flew by… I have a feeling December will to. I really enjoyed AFTER OBSESSION, and every blog post with a review of the novel was positive. You guys did well… you have my blessing to write the sequel.

Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving… and your computers feeling better.
