Redesigns, redneck werewolves and rejections

Some of you may have already realized I did a complete redesign of my Web site, www.stevenewedel.com. It isn’t completely finished; I’m still tweaking colors and sizes of the boxes and such. No frames, though. I remember a certain reptilian Web designer making fun of me at Horrorfind last year for still using frames. It only took me seven months to overhaul it. Anyway, let me know what you think.

I haven’t done a lick of work on The Puppet King or The Fetch so far this week. I have, however, begun a new werewolf short story. This is meant to be my “con story” for this year … a funny piece I can read aloud. I was calling it “Randy the Redneck Werewolf,” but apparently there’s a popular comic series called Bubba the Redneck Werewolf, so I’ll have to change the name. Basically, it’s a redneck werewolf making a video dating tape. Maybe I’ll rip the sleeves off a flannel shirt, get a(nother) mullet and make a tape of myself reading it for YouTube.

So, Tor rejected Amara’s Prayer. When they never responded to Lantz Powell, the agent, I got another agent to send the book to Berkley, where the editor never responded. So I sent a proposal to Tor on my own late last year. It came back Monday with a form letter. Sucks.

The kids are bored with spring break already. How bored? Sara’s spent the day cleaning the house. She scrubbed the toilets, for cryin’ out loud. Yesterday I took the little ones to two different parks, one in the morning and one in the evening. They needed to do something other that watch movies. Although, Amanda has stayed very busy drawing and writing notes. She’s learning to sound out and write words. Very cute!

How did I miss the theatrical release of Bandidas? Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz. I bought the DVD used the other day. Yeah, it’s not a great movie, but it ain’t bad. No movie with both those two babes can be all bad. The label promised nudity. Unfortunately, the only nudity was man-butt.

  1. New design looks good Steve. Love the header pic.
I’m working on a new werewolf story myself. Must be something in the water around here.

  2. Always listen to reptilian web designers. 😉
    You did a great job.
