I’ve been meaning to post some of this stuff for a while and keep forgetting it. As you may have noticed, I haven’t had a new book out since Bad Moon Books released Little Graveyard on the Prairie last year, and with it being an expensive limited edition, probably not a lot of people shelled out the cash for it. I have, however, had a few short stories published since then, so I wanted to tell you about those.

Nadia’s Curse — This one is for Amazon’s Kindle. It is self published. I wanted to give this new program they’re doing a try and see if I could make a few dollars at it. Plus, I hadn’t published anything related to The Werewolf Saga since Ulrik in mid-2008. In this short story prequel to the Saga, we meet the witch who brought down the original curse on a tribe of Germanic hunter/gatherers and find out why she did it. We also meet one of the Old Ones who plays a significant role in the next novel in the Saga. I priced this story at Amazon’s minimum of $2.99. By the way, you don’t have to have a Kindle to read Kindle publications. There’s an app for various phones, as well as PC and Mac computers.

SKN-3 — This one really isn’t new. In fact, it was first published in Mausoleum magazine in 1997, and has appeared online and in both versions of my Darkscapes collection. However, Darkscapes is about to go bye-bye because Fine Tooth Press is one of those publishers that never pays or answers e-mail. So, "SKN-3" makes a new appearance in James Roy Daley’s Best New Zombie Tales: Volume 1 from publisher Books of the Dead. The paperback is $10.79, but for a limited time you can get the entire book for Kindle for only $2.99. The book includes stories by greats like Ray Garton, Kealan Patrick Burke, and many others. It’s well worth the money.

Hungry is the Night — This never-before-published story is in Graveside Tales’ Harvest Hill anthology. The anthology premise is that throughout history bad things have happened on Halloween in the little town of Harvest Hill. In my story, a cloud of living darkness is summoned out of a well to settle a fight between two women, but it decides to devour a few other townspeople on the way. This is a thick anthology priced at only $15.25.

The Zombie Whisperer — Another never-before-published story, this one is in 23 House’s Dead Set: A Zombie Anthology edited by my buddy Joe McKinney and Michelle McCrary. I’m sure this one is great, but as soon as I got my contributor copy Kim took it to work and I haven’t seen it since. She was enjoying it, though. My story is about a small group of people living in a mansion surrounded by zombies. They call in the Zombie Whisperer in hopes he can communicate with the walking corpse of a woman’s father. The price on this one is $17.95.

Okie Werewolf Seeks Love — Okay, this one has been out for a while in Graveside Tales’ The Beast Within anthology, but I like it. I don’t write humor very often, so you should definitely check it out. It’s about a redneck Okie who gets bitten by a werewolf and is looking for a woman who wants to share the pros and cons of his new lifestyle. There are some really good stories in this one. Very few are humorous, by the way. The going price is $16.95.

I don’t foresee any new publications coming from me in 2010. However, 2011 should be a banner year. Spring will see the Bloomsbury release of Ghost Sickness with Carrie Jones. In the fall Bad Moon Books will release The Prometheus Syndrome, again, probably as a limited edition. And, if things continue to progress, it looks like I might let Scrybe Press publish the fourth volume of The Werewolf Saga, Nadia’s Children … assuming I actually get it finished by the end of this year.
