I just finished the most recent round of editing on Ulrik. The current word count is 101,516. I still think it is my most well-constructed novel. I’ve set a goal of delivering it to Scrybe Press before Horrorfind Weekend, which is August 11-13, for those of you who have forgotten. When will it be out? Hmm …
Speaking of Horrorfind, those of you who have wondered if Kim is a real person or just a name I’ve given to my hand, you’ll get the chance to meet my wife at the convention. She’ll also be at Conestoga this year.
On the subject of conventions, I got a message from the SoonerCon organizer this morning. I guess there was a communication breakdown somewhere, but all is well now. I’ll be on the Plotting & Scripting panel Saturday at 10 a.m. and have been penciled in with Gina Showalter and PC Cast for the “Sex and Fantasy” panel at noon. On Sunday I’ll share my Publish America and 3F Publications stories in the “How Not to Get Published” panel at 10 a.m., then I’ll join Bill Fountain and my buddy Craig Wolf to talk about “Writing Horror” at noon. I’ll also do a reading at some point and spend time at the autograph table, where there are no scheduled times, just whenever I want to visit. There are a lot of other authors and artists who’ll be there but I haven’t linked to them. Go find them on your own.
Three evenings from now I’ll be sitting in Rob Zombie’s audience. Three evenings after that I’ll leave SoonerCon to endure the Teddy Geiger show. Could there be a bigger contrast? Opening acts include Dirtie Blonde and Anthrax. Guess who is opening for whom.
And finally, ya’ll need to be watching for a Carnifex Press book called And Then Comes the Child from Angeline Hawkes and Christopher Fulbright. I got to read the manuscript and write a blurb for the novella. This is the best work I’ve read from either of them. You won’t want to miss it!
Did I give you enough links today?
