Been a Long Time

It’s been so long since I blogged that Blogger has changed the look of its site. Hmm. Oh well. The last blog I wrote, I didn’t publish. There were some issues with the Oklahoma Centennial Book Festival, but since my job is involved, I decided not to post them publicly, as my last blog was read by someone on the festival committee. Self-censorship. Ewww. It’s like jerking off in public. Or so I imagine.

I spent last Thursday through Sunday in my final seminar to get my master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma. It was quite fascinating. Mary Jo Watson and Marjy Duncan are the professors; they teach art history and anthropology, respectively. We spent a good deal of time talking about the Maya Indians, then moved into Oklahoma, where Marjy told about finding sites occupied by people who lived here 10,500 years ago.

I’m still waiting to get my thesis back from Jim Davis. Hopefully it’s not taking so long because it sucks. Nah. He’s just busy, right? Right?

There are only two weeks left in my Writing Character-driven Horror Fiction class at Moore Norman Technology Center. It’s been quite the experience. I only have four students, which really threw me the first night because I’d allotted time for more class participation. I hope the school will let me teach again. I’d like to teach a speculative novel writing class.

After the first night of class, seven weeks ago today, I went home and turned on my computer. Crash and burn, baby. No more hard drive. I planted a row of pennies in the back yard, but I have yet to see my orchard of money trees break the surface, so I haven’t been able to get a new hard drive yet. Fortunately, I didn’t lost much; all my fiction was saved on the old laptop or I was able to get it from editors. The only thing I really lost was a season of Madden football. I was 10-0. Bummer.

Okay, here’s the real reason I haven’t been blogging. I gots nuthin to say. No recent news. No story or book sales, no signings, nothing at all. So, I’ll just shut up now.
