Review: A Christmas Story

A Christmas Story
A Christmas Story by Jean Shepherd
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

There isn’t much I can say that hasn’t already been said about this book here on GoodReads. I enjoyed it, though it lacks the cohesion of the movie A Christmas Movie, which I think is one of the best Christmas movies ever.

A couple of big events from the movie aren’t included, including the tongue on the flagpole. I did like the last segment, which gives a lot of back story on the Bumpus family … a family way too much like some neighbors I’ve had over the years.

It’s a fun read, nostalgic, but a good deal of it does not take place around Christmas, so by the end you’re not really in the holiday spirit anymore.

  1. With havin so much written content do you ever run into any
issues of plagorism or copyright violation?
My blog has a lot of exclusive content I’ve either authored myself or outsourced but it appears
a lot of it is popping it up all ovber the web without my permission.
Do you now any techniques to help protect against content from being ripped off?

    I’d really appreciate it.

    1. Ronn, sadly I don’t. I have one short story in particular that gets pasted up all over the place, sometimes with my name attached and sometimes without or with the poster’s name in place of mine. There isn’t much you can do other than ask the person to take down your material, then contact their ISP provider if they won’t. Good luck!
