The Red Dirt Book Festival is over. It was fun. I only got to listen to 1 1/2 panels because I was on so many others or doing my reading or signings. My reading, with three ladies, was early Friday and we had to compete with Tim Tingle, so the reading was not well attended. The panels, however, did draw people in. The most fun was had during the Writing Horror panel, in which it was just me and John Wooley and our moderator; Brian A. Hopkins and Brad Sinor were supposed to be there, but weren’t. Several people stopped me later and said Writing Horror was the best panel they attended all weekend, so that was very cool.
Barnes & Noble sold out of their copies of Murdered by Human Wolves and there were still people looking for it. Last I looked at the table, they only had two copies of Call to the Hunt left, too. Lots of people were interested in MbHW, which isn’t surprising considering that Shawnee is just a bit north of Konawa.
Thank you to everyone who came to the festival, and especially to those of you who bought my books or stopped to talk for a bit.
I also got to hang out with my critique group for a while, something I haven’t been able to do much of since school started. I miss our Friday lunches and literary discussions.
A friend sent me this link tonight. It’s from the Internet Movie Database, telling about a film called Skinwalkers that is supposedly in production now for a 2006 release. The plot summary offered is: A 12 year old boy and his mother become the targets of two warring werewolf packs, each with different intentions and motives, and some not so kind. That’s a bit too close for comfort for me. Granted, it likely won’t be much like what’s happening in Ulrik, but it’s still bothersome. It’s being directed by James Isaac, who brought us Jason X.
No news on the job front. I’m quite disgusted.
