Work was cancelled today. I know and horrorwench would laugh their assess off over the thought of schools and businesses closing over the paltry amount of snow and ice we have. The ice actually is pretty bad. There’s at least 1/4 inch covering the windows of my car. But the snow hasn’t even covered the street and probably won’t. The ice has pulled down some tree limbs and powerlines, though.
It’s kinda cool that in my position I have can notify the media that the university is closed. Hell, I could tell them any school is closed, as the whole state has the same password. I do have to get the official word from OCU administration before making the call. That word came at 5:30 a.m. aka 30 minutes before my alarm would have began notifying me that I needed to begin hitting the snooze button. So I called all the media outlets, but then had to watch the TV to see if the kids’ school were closed. They were not, so I had to drive the 12-year-old boy to junior high, come back and wait an hour, the drive the 10-year-old girlchild to her school.
I may go to the office, anyway. I have a press release I need to get written and sent. Or not. Maybe I’ll just stay home and work on the four new freelance stories I have to do for the paper. I didn’t want four, not when I’m back at the day job, but these should be fairly easy to do. I’d rather just go back to my nice warm bed, though.
