Back at work today. Ugh. Sure, it was an incredibly stressful break what with the freelance work and the kids seeming to have tapeworms making them eat constantly, but at least I was home. However, I seem to function better with a set routine, so maybe it’s a good thing I’m back to the grind.
Watched “Shaun of the Dead” last night. There were some hilarious scenes, but overall I don’t see what all the fuss is about. It was an okay movie, but not great. Nothing I feel compelled to buy. A million, billion, zillion times better than that “Napolean Dynamite” drivel, though.
I also watched “Invastion of the Body Snatchers” yesterday. The original I just bought on DVD. There’s a good flick. But I keep wondering what happened to the “original” bodies. Also, in an interview segment with the star (yeah, I forget his name already), the star said the cast and crew never considered the pod people to be metaphors for communists, and the interviewer said Jack Finney never intended that, either. I find that hard to believe, as it seemed painfully obvious the emotionless, atheist pod people were McCarthy’s idea of what a communist is. Oh well. Still a great flick.
My boss is out with pneumonia. Serious stuff. He’s in ICU at a local hospital and still in critical condition. Best wishes, Robert.
