Some sense of balance

I’m still pissed about the job situation. To be fair, the VP is working on a request for a major grant and the foundation keeps changing how much the university can ask for, so he has to keep rewriting the request. He’s under a lot of stress. So am I, but I’m a peon. The request has to go out next week, so I plan to have another talk with him right after that and find out what the hell he meant when I said the reorganization might actually hurt me.

I ain’t one to go fetch the barrel over which I’ll be screwed. I have a suspicion about what may be coming, and so I am actively checking the job market.

Anyway, the subject line says there is some balance and there is. The writing issue I alluded to earlier has been cleared up. And there’s unrelated good news. The SF Site has posted a very nice review of Murdered by Human Wolves. You can read it here.

Also, the folks at Horror World have given me a new forum, which has replaced the old message board on my Web site. Go say howdy. Start a new thread if you want. Be sure and hit the index link, too, and check out all the other authors and publishers Horror World supports.

  1. Hey, thanks for the shout out Steve!

  2. Congratulations, that’s an excellent review. It helped sell one more copy.

    1. Thanks Shawn! I really appreciate that. I hope you enjoy the book.

  3. I started working on the illustration for Call to the Hunt this morning, but had to stop when life took the reins and dragged me away.
This will be an alternative to a piece that I sent to Nathan last week — and decided I don’t like that much — but wanted him to kick around. I haven’t heard back from him yet on whether he likes it or not.
I kind of hope he doesn’t because I think this new one will be much better.
I’m not sure why it never occurred to me to send it to you as well.
This new idea should turn out really nice. I’ll send you a preview of it once it starts to take shape and let you take a look. Hopefully I’ll get some time to work on it this weekend.

    1. I’d love to see any design you want to send. I’m really excited to see what you come up with.
I haven’t heard from Nathan for a while, either. I sent him an e-mail last week asking a few questions about “Call to the Hunt.” Hopefully he’ll get in touch with us soon.
