Dark, soulful tales that haunt long after the last page.
I’ve hesitated to even mention this after the flap over Murdered by Human Wolves and the Scrybe Press offer. But, since Deron has made the offer, I think it’s only right I pass it along in at least this forum. Deron is the publisher at Double Dragon Publishing. Back in August his company released my…
This may ramble a bit. I hope you’ll stick with me and maybe post your throughts on the questions at the end. In a recent post I listed all the books I’ve written that aren’t published, or that could be republished. One of those was the horrid We the People that was written during my…
I just delivered two copies of Shara and Murdered by Human Wolves to the Oklahoma City University library. The director called the other day and asked for two copies of each. Something they do for every published employee, I guess. One copy goes into circulation and one copy goes to the archives. Funny to think…
Yeah, I said it. Much to the chagrin of some Horror Writers Association members, I’m sure. Yesterday I made this post about my novella Murdered by Human Wolves being eligible for Bram Stoker Award recommendation (HWA’s annual award given in various categories). The post wasn’t bragging that I have a recommendation, which absolutely is no big…
Seems to be the thing to do today: 1. Grab the nearest book.2. Open the book to page 123.3. Find the fifth sentence.4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.5. Don’t search around and look for the “coolest” book you can find. Do what’s actually next to you. “I’d…
The job interview went well, I think. You just never know what to expect when you go into one of those. They asked what I’d do to make the paper better, and seemed impressed with at least some of my answers. Money wasn’t discussed. I maybe told too many stories on past employers, but that’s…
In about an hour and a half I’ll be sitting in a job interview. I’m not sure why. I don’t necessarily dislike my current job, although I am still miffed that my boss made the comment about writers being a dime a dozen when I asked him why the salary of another employee with zero…
Maybe ‘tis the season for the spiritual and the secular to clash. Or maybe it’s a holdover from the election. I don’t know. Maybe I’m just being overly sensitive for some reason. In the past week I’ve seen a couple of posts on message boards that have dealt with science vs. religion, specifically creationism…
In a thread on the Shocklines message board somebody asked other posters to comment on when the Xmas season officially begins for them. I wrote this response, then decided not to incite a flamewar by posting it. But I’ll put it here. I guess, for me, the season doesn’t really begin until I grit my…
My Web site is back up. The problem seems to have been with Go Daddy’s FTP protocol working with Internet Explorer; I couldn’t get into OCU’s book festival server with IE, either. I downloaded a different FTP client and uploaded easily. That’s a relief.
