NaNoWriMo 2023

Happy November, everybody! I realize we’re 20 days into the month already, but this is my first chance to update my blog, so here goes …

I’m participating in the National Novel Writing Month again. This is my fourth year to do so. Past years have produced Mother, Yes or No, most of First Born, and this year I’m working on another literary novel called Sycamore Souls. I don’t want to give away too much about this one, but I’ll say it’s an idea that hit me like a truck early this year and has been scratching and clawing at the inside of my soul since then. I’d made a few notes about the story, but primarily it is just flowing without any sort of outline. As of today, I’ve written 42,491 words and it’s going strong.

I was in a race against the clock to finish the first draft of Warhorse Trail by Halloween so I could start fresh with this new book on November 1. Warhorse Trail is the third book in The Travels of Jacob Wolf and will be out by Christmas. This series is selling better than I dared hope, proving there is still a market for fiction of the Old West. Have you checked out the first two books?

It’s a short update this time. Thank you all for reading. I hope you have a fantastic Thanksgiving holiday filled with family, friends, and joy.
