My envy of artists


Wow. I mean … wow. I always wanted to be an artist. I wanted to draw and paint. But, alas, I don’t have the talent to bring the images from my head onto the paper or canvas. Which makes me very envious of those who can.

People like , who sent me the preliminary art for the new version of Call to the Hunt last night. Damn. It is one fine looking cover. It’s subtle and bold at the same time, telling you what the book is about without giving away anything at all. I seriously love this piece of art. And he isn’t even finished with it yet.

Of course I can’t post the art yet. It’s not finished. Kirk hasn’t given me permission and Nathan at Scrybe Press hasn’t OK’d it, either. I can’t imagine Nathan will have a problem with it.

This just makes me even more excited about the release of this little collection.

    Kirk is a wonderful artist and I can’t wait to see what he’s come up with for Call to the Hunt. I can’t say enough good things about him.

    Good for you! Considering how excited you are, he must have done a really great job. Your excitement and praise is infectious, now I really can’t wait for the book’s release.

    Steven,
    I have no problem whatsoever with you posting anything I’ve done. In fact, I’d be quite honored. I think the cover for Call to the Hunt turned out well, I’m proud of it and hell, I’d like to see it everywhere.
    I mentioned in my journal that Scrybe Press asked me to do the cover of Shara…and actually i might have mentioned it in an email I sent you…I can’t remember. Is Shara reprinting or something?
    If you have any ideas, or visual that stick prominently in your mind regarding that story let me know.
