When you’re old …

Local radio station KRXO does a show called “Classic Nine at 9” every morning. Today they are playing the rock hits of 1982 … and I remember every one of them from high school. In most cases I owned the cassette the songs were on. Foreigner’s “Juke Box Hero” just went off. Earlier we had J. Geils Band’s “Centerfold” and Van Halen’s “Dancing in the Streets.” Ah, and here’s Billy Squier to say “Everybody Wants You.”

Conjures memories of my massive Pioneer boombox. And the crappy little Toyota Corona that was my first car when I got my driver’s license in 1982.

Yeah, you know you’re old when your high school hits are being played on the classic rock radio station.

  1. I was 12 in 1982, but I still feel a little giddy when “I Love Rock ‘N Roll” by Joan Jett and The Blackhearts comes on.
    Uh… Don’t tell anyone, okay? 😉

  2. Moving up four notches to number ten…
Oh Mickey, what a pity, you don’t understand
You take me by the heart when you take me by the hand
Oh Mickey, you’re so pretty, can’t you understand
    It’s guys like you, Mickey…
Ooh what you do Mickey, do Mickey
    Don’t break my heart, Mickey…
    Oh Mickey, you’re so fine
You’re so fine, you blow my mind,
    Hey Mickey, hey Mickey!

    That about 1982, isn’t it?
