Unconnected ramblings

Terri Schiavo is dead. May she rest in peace. And may the villians and heroes who made her last years such a political circus get what’s coming to them, too.

Who is the most annoying radio talk show host? I freely admit to being a conservative Republican who willingly listens to a fair amount of AM radio. I think most of the hosts are arrogant and have differing degrees of faults, but there is one in particular who grates on my nerves. I leave work at 4:30 p.m. My best route home is I-235 to I-35 from Oklahoma City into Moore. That’s also the best route for thousands of other people. So as I leave work I listen to KOKC, partly because I do like getting the last half-hour of Bill O’Reilly, but mostly for the traffic reports; they’re the only radio station with a plane or helicopter checking traffic. The challenge is to get home before about 5:10 p.m., after O’Reilly and the local news update but before Michael Savage’s show starts. Savage has to be the most annoying, disrespectful, arrogant bastard on all of radio. I have never heard him treat a caller with respect and I absolutely hate how even in his monologue he can’t help screaming and calling people names. Get a grip, jackass. Screaming won’t convince anybody you’re right.

Shara goes out of print today. Or, it’s supposed to. I’m also supposed to get my first and only official statement from 3F Publications showing how many copies have sold in the 18 months since the book was published. But then, I was supposed to get some money from those sales, too.

I’ll be speaking to Novel Ideas writing group on Saturday. The meeting will be at 10 a.m. Belle Isle Library, 5501 N. Villa, lower level in one of the meeting rooms. Anybody is welcome to attend for free. Oh, that’s in Oklahoma City.

I found out yesterday that someone who aspires to be my boss at work looked me in the eye and lied to me about the actions and intentions of a vice president of the university. So I’ve sent the VP a memo explaining the circumstances and why it would be bad for the university to promote this person … and that if it happens I’ll be leaving because I won’t tie my reputation to this person’s lack of integrity.

  1. Not many people these days stand by that code. I’m with you on that one. “Above all, honor”.
Yes, may Terri Schiavo rest in peace. Something I hope her husband never does.

    • Shauna? Is this, like, Shauna freakin’ Hardway who I haven’t heard from in years? I live in Moore now and work at Oklahoma City University. Let me know where you are and we’ll meet up sometime.
