It’s been a busy couple of days. I’ll start with the job situation. I learned yesterday that, even if all goes smoothly, it would likely be November before I could be certified to teach. That won’t work. I’ll still pursue it, but I gotta have a job before then.

Interestingly, I have a job interview tomorrow. I won’t go into much detail about it now, but I think it would be a heck of a fun job. It’s something I enjoy, which means it probably won’t pay much. But then, I’ve been wrong once before. Yes, only once (today). I’ll know more about this tomorrow.

Somebody stole Alex’s bike yesterday. That was a raw deal. Unfortunately, there’s nothing we could do about it because there’s some question about where the frame came from. This is a bike that was in bad shape that he got from a friend. He worked hard fixing it up, taking parts from two or three other bikes to put on this one. A few nights ago we were in the backyard filing some of those pieces to make them fit. He rode it to a friend’s apartment, came out a few hours later and it was gone. Kim pitied him, though, and today he got a brand new bike. But I still can’t get him to clean up the dead robin the cats have brought to the front porch. I’ll give him another hour, then I’ll be out there doing tricks on his new bike. heheh No, I won’t.

No more fiction or screenplay writing done yet. I did get my newspaper story finished and it came in at about 960 words. Then I revised my platform statement for the Horror Writers Association trustee election. Does that count for anything? Not enough to whip out the word meter, huh? Oh, I also realized today that I left my AP stylebook at OCU. That sucks. I needed to look up something and couldn’t even find one of my older copies.

I just booked my flight to Baltimore for Horrorfind V. It was about $70 less than last time I checked on it. I have layovers both ways, but the itinerary doesn’t say where. Hopefully one will be in Minneapolis so I can stock up on Vikings stuff. My money is on Chicago, though. For the layover, not as champions of the NFC North. I need to submit a story to the Horrorfind Web site. Hmm. I should go pick one.

  1. Good luck with the interview tomorrow.
I remember when my bicycle was stolen. It was a very traumatic experience for me. I loved that bike! I know how Alex must have felt. But, I’m sure he recovered quickly when he got the new one.

    • I never had a bike stolen. But then, I didn’t really have a desirable bike, either.
Recovered? Oh yeah. His good mood made him just a bit too cocky. He spent the rest of the day stirring up trouble with Sara.

    • I will let you know. I know I leave OKC at 6:25 a.m. (I didn’t know there was such a thing) and arrive in Baltimore at 11:15 a.m. I see a nap before the con starts. I leave BWI at 6 p.m. Sunday and get home at 9:05 p.m.
You know I rolled at the thought of a Packer gal caught in Minneapolis. Pick me up a horned hat with the yellow braids, okay? We can’t get that stuff here in Okieland. 😉
I’m looking forward to finally meeting you in the flesh.
