Yes, if everybody else jumped off a cliff, I’d probably do it, too. By the time it was my turn the ground should be covered in soft, mushy bodies to break my fall.

Where was that grave stone, if you don’t mind my asking? And do you know the story behind it?
Careful what you ask for! hehe The grave stone belongs to Katherine Cross. She died in Konawa, Okla., in 1917. Konawa is about an hour’s drive southeast of Oklahoma City.
There are varying stories behind it. Most agree that she died because of an illegal abortion. One story says she was pregnant, another says her friend Elise Stone was pregnant and deliberately killed during and abortion and that Katherine was later killed because she knew too much about Elise’s case. Records for both deaths, and many others in the area, are gone, burned in a fire. The only record left is a short news article saying a doctor and school teacher were arrested for Katherine’s death and that they’d been arrested a short time earlier for Elise’s death.

I wrote a fictionalized account of Katherine’s death in a chapbook named “Murdered by Human Wolves.” The novella is based on what little evidence is available and the book includes a feature article focusing on the research of a paranormal investigator who’s been studying the case for years. The book will be on the HWA’s preliminary Stoker ballot this year.

See what happens when abortions are outlawed? all kinds of sundry shit… 🙂
Not trying to start something. just amused by the odd synchronicities of life.
Thanks, Steve. I appreciate all the great info.
The best 10 things list I’ve read yet.
I honestly wish it would have said “Met human wolves who gave me the ideas for my stories.”
Perhaps that comes at a later date.
=)
