Sneaking around

Okay, well, my wife figured out what I was up to. But I’m at work anyway. This morning I will answer some lingering e-mail I haven’t had time for, the write until my fingers bleed. Or until about 3:30 p.m.

The weekend was typical since the wife worked. Spent most of my time feeding kids. I swear I should just buy a trough and every morning just throw a bunch of crackers, pop tarts and hot dog weenies in there. It’d sure save me constantly getting food for them.

The Vikings lost yesterday. It wasn’t an embarrassing loss. It was an odd game. Now begins the long dark time without the Vikes or Sooners.

Finished Bentley Little’s The Store the other night. This is the first Little I’ve read. Frankly, I don’t see what all the fuss is about. It was a good book, but not great. I felt the ending was a real let-down. I like his characterization and pacing. But the ending was too easy and the “surprise” of learning who the main character had sex with was no surprise, as I knew who it was when it happened. But, he publishes hardcover books from TOR while I dabble in the small press, so what do I know?

    Ha! Good idea!!

  2. Ha, did you really think she wouldn’t figure it out?

    Yo,
I really liked THE STORE, but agree that the ending was a letdown after such a fine set-up. Check out THE IGNORED if you feel like giving him another try.
I’m in the middle of Clegg’s AFTERLIFE now.

  4. I liked The Store right up until the ending, as well. Actually, having spent so much of my life in a retail environment, I loved The Store, up until those last few chapters. Bentley makes a point of bragging that he never outlines. Maybe he should.
