Late yesterday afternoon I accepted a job working part time for the South Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce. The president of the chamber was surprisingly willing to accommodate me. This will be a good job for me. The hours are flexible, I’m a little familiar with the chamber from reporting about its activities for OKC Business News, and I’ll get to brush up on my layout skills. Mostly I’ll be writing press releases, letters and updating brochures. I begin work there tomorrow, which means today will be spent trying to knock out most of the freelance assignments I need to get done this week.

We also are back out of the ranks of the uninsured, but it’s costing us. Kim signed us up for insurance at her job, which means she lost her modified compensation she was getting for not taking insurance. So, basically, she took a pay cut and will now have an insurance premium to pay out of her check.

So yes, I’m still looking for a full-time job, but hoping Kim working and my part-time job, freelancing and the little bit of unemployment I’ll still get now that I’m working some will get us through until my teaching certificate quest is finished.

No more sleeping until 10 a.m. or later now.
