Tonight at 7 p.m. CST the Oklahoma Sooners will face the Oregon Ducks in the Holiday Bowl. As much as I hate to admit it, I expect we’ll be spanked by a good team that finished the season 10-1 while the Sooners struggled against the likes of Tulsa and Baylor. But … we’re going to a bowl and Oklahoma State isn’t. Nya, nya!
What really galls me is that I have to pull for Texas to win the national championship. Texas! But I’d rather see the Longhorns get it than have USC claim a third consecutive title. I have a long-standing bias against teams from Florida and California. And, let’s face it, the football “hate” between Oklahoma and Texas really isn’t much different than a sibling rivalry, and family always comes first.
If you haven’t bought a copy of Murdered by Human Wolves yet, you should think about doing it. The book is likely to go into a second edition soon. Scrybe Press has talked about it for a while, doing a new edition as a trade paperback with a new full-color Kirk Alberts cover to replace the current black-and-white GAK cover. This will make the book available to any bookstore via Ingram, which should help sales quite a bit. I say it’s likely to happen soon because the paranormal researcher quoted in the interview segment of the book has decided she doesn’t like being named there. So, her name and where she’s from will be changed.
I wrote almost 2,000 more words for Ulrik last night, but didn’t bother with a word meter. (It was very late when I went to bed, and I’m old and tired, anyway.) I’ll do that tonight or tomorrow morning. I meet with my critique group tomorrow and I want to finish the chapter I’m working on and two more before then. There’s a particular scene I really want to have finished by lunchtime tomorrow.
As you may have guessed, I did finally hear something from Scrybe Press yesterday. Besides telling me the paranormal researcher was complaining, the publisher also told me he expects to be able to give me a Shara update by this weekend. I’m hoping that means he’ll be able to tell me when the printer will ship books.
Let’s see … football, work on Ulrik, edit MbHW and read the galleys for Darkscapes. Sounds like I should stay busy for the next few days.
