A day off

Oh, come on. It’s funny. I have a day off. After working two mornings. Okay, maybe only I see the humor in that. I don’t work on Fridays, though, because somebody else uses “my” office on Fridays. And Wednesday afternoons.

I’ve heard from two friends today, one of whom is a former boss of mine. The hiring folks with that state job I mentioned a while back called them for a reference on me. That’s gotta be a good sign. Right?

The UPS delivery lady was just here, dropping off these buttons. I’ll be giving away some at Horrorfind, others in my Yahoo Groups monthly drawings. I also ordered this new T-shirt design, and expected to get it first. If you click the T-shirt link, look at the back. I’m hoping it’ll turn out okay. I’ve found that it’s best to make images a little darker for CafePress stuff. The on-screen image looks a bit too dark, though. Yes, I become a marketing whore at conventions.

So, Gayleen, who really should become my publicist, casually threw out an idea at lunch today. If Shara isn’t ready for Horrorfind (and it’s looking that way), I could take pre-orders, then ship the books as soon as I get my copies. Sounds simple, huh? Why didn’t I think of it? I dunno. But maybe I’ll do that. I have some qualms about taking money for a product I don’t yet have in hand, so I may let people with PayPal simply order, then bill them when the book is out. Any thoughts?
